Fine Grind vs. Coarse Cut: How to Choose
Both of our Taheebo Wellness Teas come from the same tree bark: the inner bark of Tabebuia impetiginosa/avellanedae, sourced from Brazil, traditionally used to support the immune system, gut health, and overall wellness. The only difference between the two is how finely that bark is cut, and that's what sets the strength of your cup.

Fine Grind brews the stronger, more concentrated cup. Coarse Cut brews a lighter one. Same bark, same price, same 100 cups per pouch. The choice comes down to how strong you like your tea.
Fine Grind

Our original grind: finely ground bark that's not commonly sold this way elsewhere. Because more surface area of the bark is exposed to the water, it brews the stronger, more concentrated cup of the two, using the same amount of bark per batch as Coarse Cut.
To brew: 1 quart + ½ cup water, 3 tbsp Fine Grind tea. Bring to a boil, then a gentle rolling boil for 25 minutes. It needs a fine mesh filter to strain out the small particles.
Choose Fine Grind if:
- You want the strongest, most concentrated cup
- You don't mind adding a fine mesh filter to your setup
Coarse Cut

The same bark, cut into small shreds and sticks instead of ground fine, for a lighter cup. This is the more common cut-and-sift style you'll find from most Taheebo sellers online.
To brew: 1 quart + 1 cup water, 3 tbsp Coarse Cut tea. Bring to a boil, then a gentle rolling boil for 30 minutes. Works with any strainer you already have. Currently a limited batch.
Choose Coarse Cut if:
- You prefer a lighter cup
- You're still figuring out how strong you like your Taheebo
- You'd rather not buy a separate filter
What's exactly the same either way
- Price and yield: both are $39/lb pouch, about $0.39/cup with free shipping on 2+ pouches, or $0.44/cup with shipping on a single pouch. One pouch makes 100 cups either way.
- Caffeine-free, sugar-free, vegan.
- Same bark amount per batch (3 tbsp). Fine Grind uses the same amount of bark as Coarse Cut; the finer cut is what makes the cup stronger.
- Both are prepared as a decoction, gently simmered rather than steeped. After brewing, cool, cap, and refrigerate; best enjoyed within 8 days. Full method on our Brewing Instructions page.
Not sure which strength you'll prefer? Try Coarse Cut first, then move to Fine Grind's stronger cup on your next order. For more on why people drink Taheebo tea, see Pau d'Arco Tea Benefits: A Complete Guide.
