Pau D'Arco

Taheebo, also called Pau d'Arco or Lapacho, is the inner bark of a South American tree that has been brewed as a wellness tea for centuries. Our tea is that inner bark and nothing else: caffeine-free, sugar-free, and simmered into a mild, earthy cup. Choose your grind below.

Fine Grind is our stronger cup. Because the bark is ground fine, it brews a stronger tea, a style you won't often find elsewhere. It is the one to choose if you like your tea strong (a fine mesh filter works best).

Coarse Cut is our lighter cup. It is the same bark in shredded stick form, and it brews a milder tea that is easy to sip through the day, hot or iced. It works with any filter.

What to expect. Either way the tea tastes mild, earthy and slightly woody, and many people enjoy it as it is or with a little honey or lemon. One pouch makes roughly 100 cups, about 50 days at two cups a day.

Simple to make. Both are IBAMA-certified Tabebuia avellanedae inner bark with nothing added. The bark is simmered as a traditional decoction rather than steeped: about 25 minutes for Fine Grind and 30 for Coarse Cut. Brew a pot once a week and keep it in the refrigerator for 7 to 8 days (how to store it). The brewing guide has the full ratios and times.
