Setting goals for the new year can sometimes feel challenging. You may feel discouraged by the whole process of goal setting if you’ve struggled to achieve previous years’ goals.

One thing that has helped us tremendously is keeping our goals few in number. Productivity studies have shown that you can’t focus on more than 5, 7, or 10 items at any one time.

An invaluable way to conserve energy this winter is a shift in mindset surrounding goal setting. This shift will allow you to focus your energy on what really matters to you, and help you make steady progress without the energy drain and burnout that many of us have become so accustomed to.

✅ So when deciding on your 2024 New Year's Goals, try to limit the total number for the year to 8 - 10 goals
 
✅ Then (and here’s the secret sauce!) divide your Annual Goals into Quarterly Goals, with three or fewer Annual Goals assigned to Q1, Q2, Q3 and Q4. Stick to a limit of three per quarter or risk major burnout, disappointment and dissipation of your energy!
 
✅ These are now your Quarterly Big 3. And they will act as a guide for your weekly and daily goal setting.
 
✅ At the beginning of each week, think of the next few actions that will move you closer to reaching each of your Quarterly Big 3 goals. Write them down. These are your Weekly Big 3.
 
✅ Then at the beginning of each day, write down one action you plan to accomplish that day for each of your Weekly Big 3 goals. These are your Daily Big 3.

 

And Presto! You will feel laser focused each day relaxed and relieved that even if you only accomplish your Daily Big 3, you are well on your way to success!
